Vanilla JS >= ES6

I read a book about static sites that really intrigued me, moreso when I started working with the Harp js server and static site generator. It got me intrigued enough to try and make a case study website of a restaurant.

This template includes:

  • Menu Items based off of JSON data. Easily FTP-able to remove, add, or edit food choices. Mark them as featured items to be featured on the menu category page!
  • Menu categories based off of JSON data. These pages give information about each of the menu categories and also show featured items.
  • A nice little image optimation script specifically for the menu category page headers. This makes sure that the best possible image is output for the screen size that is viewing it.

I was really excited about being able to build content dynamically using templating languages like EJS. This was the first time that I had worked with it before and I was really impressed. Being able to use pure JavaScript as a way to obtain data and modify it for the template that I was outputting just shows how powerful it can be for other applications in which a static site would be okay for.
